Abstract
471,331. Liquid-fuel burners. BAKER PERKINS, Ltd. (Engels, E. O.) March 3, 1936, No. 6467. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Jan. 19, 1937.] [Class 75 (i)] A burner for furnaces such as bakers' ovens comprises a fuel-spraying nozzle 15 to which oil is supplied under pressure and to which combustion air is supplied by the suction in the furnace or combustion chamber through a cylindrical shell 5 which encloses the burner assembly and is detachably secured to the furnace wall by means of a hinge pin 4 and a spring latch 6. The burner assembly comprises a fuel pipe 13 carrying the nozzle 15, helical vanes 16 and a cover plate 10, spaced apart by sleeves 20, 21. The nozzle 15 and ignition electrodes 17, 18 clamped to the fuel pipe 13 project into a cone 3 secured in a port 2 in the furnace wall. The burner assembly is secured. to studs projecting from the shell 5 and is removable as a unit. The air entering between the cover plate 10 and the shell 5 is regulated by sleeve 8 adjustably secured by wing nuts 9. The ignition transformer is mounted on the shell 5. The burner is particularly suitable for use in a baker's oven in which the combustion chamber is maintained at subatmospheric pressure as described in U.S.A. Specification 1,857,447.
