471,244. Electric heating. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP INTERNATIONALE ALFOL-MAATSCHAPPIJ. Nov. 28, 1935, No. 13568/37. Divided out of and addition to 471,175, under which a Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, May 29, 1936. [Class 39 (iii)] [Also in Group XIII] The thermal insulation described. in the parent Specification which comprises at least one metal plate or foil enclosing a gaseous layer and adapted for heat radiation by heating the plate or foil electrically is modified in the embodiment which includes additional unheated corrugated or crumpled metal sheets by coating the sheets at their points of c'ontact with an electrically insulating layer such as lacquer and preferably a cellulose derivative lacquer. The latter may be replaced by layers of fabric or asbestos, the insulating layer being secured to the foil by means of adhesive. The foil may comprise shining aluminium or an alloy thereof. In the application to room heating a thermostat may be employed. The insulation may be utilized as a de-icer for aircraft, for incorporation in clothing, for preventing moisture condensation in marine craft and in the parts of refrigerating-apparatus.
