Abstract

470,593. Building-blocks. LONDON BRICK CO., Ltd., and FRANKS, R. S. June 15, 1936, No. 16601. [Classes 87 (i) and 20 (ii)] Two building- blocks or slabs, j, k, Fig. 4, preferably made by extrusion, are provided with grooving c entirely contained in one or two, Fig. 2, of the longer faces. The grooving of one block coacts with the grooving of the other block to form a continuous passageway for light or power leads and the like. The blocks are so dimensioned that they themselves provide a break joint so as to bond effectively with the main wall construction. The surfaces of the blocks are serrated to form keys for plaster. The blocks are made in definite sizes, for example, 6" x 9", 9" x 9", 9" x 12". In the smaller slab the groove c is central, but in the larger the groove is in both faces, neither central, but 3" approximately from one vertical edge. This will prevent a workman from incorrectly fixing a slab in position whichever side he places inwards. The blocks may be laid vertically or horizontally.
