Abstract
470,569. Lubricating. AMPENOFF, W. P., ROCKALL, G. A., and ROCKALL, W. A. E. Feb. 17, 1936, No. 4794. Addition to 437,829. [Class 12 (iii)] [Also in Group XX] In the ship's log described in the parent Specification, an elastic element, e.g. a volume of trapped air or a spring-urged piston, is provided in the conduit between the oil reservoir and the submerged casing and non-return valves are provided on either side so that, when the pressure in the oil reservoir is a maximum, pressure is stored by the elastic element and applied to the oil in the submerged casing when the pressure in the oil reservoir subsequently falls. As shown, the oil reservoir comprises a collapsable vessel b, having telescopic guide tubes r, q, and enclosed in a sealed housing p, which communicates with the sea through the pipe t, annular space u, conduit v, and grid x. The vessel b communicates with the submerged casing a through pipe d, non-return valve l, chamber y containing the elastic element, non-return valve 2, and conduit c. The elastic element may comprise a bellows 6, Fig. 5, which may be urged downwards by a spring 7. Specifications 177,187 and 193,254, [both in Class 12 (i)], are referred to.
