Abstract
469,767. Drying apparatus. FAIRWEATHER, F. W. Feb. 1, 1936, No. 3092. [Class 34 (i)] A hot-air drying or curing apparatus which may be used for treating clothes, fruits, or vegetables comprises two superposed chambers separated by an open screen, the walls of the upper chamber being of material permeable to air, and the walls of the lower chamber being of impermeable material. The lower chamber has one or more air inlets. In the construction shown, a cabinet is divided by a wire screen 13 into a drying chamber 11 and a heating chamber 12. The drying chamber consists of a metal framing 21 with an outer covering 22 of permeable material such as heavy jute cloth, the sides and door being more impervious than the roof. The interior of the chamber is fitted with racks 23 to support the articles being dried or cured. The heating chamber 12 is made of metal and is divided into two compartments by a plate 14 provided with an air-vent 15, above which is an electric heater 16. An arched baffle 17 and an apertured plate 18 are placed above the heater to distribute air passing through the vent 15. More than one heater and air vent may be provided.
