[Class 56] [Also in Groups X, XI, and XVIII] Road kerbs are made wholly or partly of glass and carry one or more internal reflectors adapted to reflect light either from an external source or from lamps incorporated in the kerb, or both. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the glass kerb block 1 carries an internal reflecting plate 2 of stainless steel in front of which are arranged glass or other hemispherical reflectors 3. In a modification, Fig. 3, bright wire mesh 6, bent to the shape shown, is employed; reflectors 3 may be mounted in front of the wire mesh. In a further construction, the plate 2 is illuminated by lamps 7, Fig. 4, and the ends of the block have hemispherical cavities 4, which are silvered and sealed with glass to form reflectors. According to further modifications, the illuminating lamps are arranged at the ends of the kerb blocks or upon the reflecting plate. The kerb 12, Fig. 9, comprises a concrete base a glass slab 13, and an intermediate reflecting strip 14 ; the base may alternatively, be of metal, wood or other appropriate material. If desired, the reflecting strips may bear signs serving as direction or mileage indicators.
