[Class 125 (ii)] An appliance for use in sterilizing a nozzle of a bottle - filling machine comprises a casing which confines steam therearound The casing is mountec with a number of others 7, 8, 9 in a strip of metal 6. The casings are lifted simultaneously by bottles on a stand to permit the passage of steam, and are in the form of cylinders open both at the top and bottom. The strip 6 engages the bottling valves in rising to the filling position. The bottles are fed on to stands 3 under the valves 2, which are downwardly urged by springs 4. Rubber washers on the flanges 5 are sterilized separately.
