Abstract

468,522. Discharge apparatus. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Feb. 15, 1936, No. 4633. Convention date, Feb. 27, 1935. [Class 39 (i)] Electrodes are sealed through the bottom of an ionic valve, having a metal vessel, by means which comprises two members, one of which consists of insulating material, wherein the inner member has a peripheral flange adapted to form an upwardly open annular recess which embraces the outer member so that the space between the members can be filled with a sealing liquid outside the tightlyfitting solid surfaces. An anode bolt 1 passes through the bottom of the vessel 3 and is insulated therefrom by an insulator 2. A flange 4 is welded on the bolt and a joint is made through packing 5 between a plane surface of the flange and a ground part of the insulator. A similar joint through packing 9 is formed between the vessel 3 and the insulator and ring 8 welded to the vessel projects into a recess in the insulator. Packings 9, 10 prevent spilling of the sealing mercury. A grid lead comprises parts 11, 12 connected by mercury in the space 13 and sealed by cement 12.
