Abstract
414,892. Discharge apparatus. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET, Võsteras, Sweden. July 12, 1933, No. 19747. Convention date, July 13, 1932. [Class 39 (i).] In a gas or vapour discharge device an insulating bushing for an electrode is provided with a plane surface, forming a joint with the metal vessel, and with a cylindrical surface, forming a joint with the electrode conductor, both joints being tightened simultaneously by bolts secured to the main vessel. The joint between the anode bolt 1 and the insulator 2 comprises asbestos packing 4 which is compressed by means of a gland 5 adjustably mounted, by screwing, on the anode bolt. The joint between plane surfaces on the insulator and on the cover 3 of the vessel comprises a packing 11. The joints are tightened by bolts 14 through springs 15, insulators 16, and a cap 17 provided with cooling flanges. The upper ends of the bolts are housed within insulating caps 22. The joints are completed. by mercury columns 7, 8, 12 protected by packings 9, 10, 13 which are compressed by the cap 17, a ring 18 and spring 19, a ring 21 and nut 20 respectively. A leading-in conductor 23 for a control grid may be provided, as described in Specification 407,236, with a packing 24 and a mercury column 25. A screen 26 is provided.
