468,463. Powder distributers for horticultural and like purposes. COOPER, McDOUGALL, & ROBERTSON, Ltd., and BENNETT, A. W. Feb. 4, 1936, No. 3321. [Class 18] A powder distributer for horticultural and like purposes consists of a metal &c. container a, of circular, rectangular or other shape, with a perforated bottom e, which is resiliently suspended by a spring (not shown), from a handle c so that it can be oscillated, by shaking the apparatus, within an outer casing or frame b. More than one spring may be used, or an elastic band or elastic bands, or one or more compression springs may be interposed between the container and the framework. The bottom e may be a wire mesh screen or a perforated plate and may be removably held by a bar secured to the central rod shown. An additional mesh or additional meshes f may be provided. Movement in one or both directions is limited by stops g, h which may be resilient, e.g. formed of or covered with rubber i. The abutment h is shown in the form of a ring which may have perforations, but spaced buffers may alternatively be used. The springs may be adjustable and trigger mechanism or the like means may be used for moving the container against the action of the springs. The handle may be in any convenient position and may be secured by look-nuts. Container b may be corrugated and be cut away for lightness. A filling opening k may have a screw cap closure or a hinged closure retained by a mouse trap or other spring. Either container may have a closure to cover the mesh e. Legs may also be fitted, and the mesh may be made adjustable.
