Abstract

468,341. Furnace walls. OESTERREICHISCH AMERIKANISCHE MAGNESIT AKT.- GES. Dec. 22, 1936, No. 35196. Convention date, March 11. Drawings to Specification. [Class 51 (ii)] In mortarless refractory brickwork, more particularly for rotary furnaces, expansion is allowed for by inserting in the joints sheet metal, which is so formed, e.g. with corrugations, protuberances, bent-up tongues, &c., that it will flatten out under a pressure insufficient to cause damage to the bricks. At high temperatures the metal will melt, and, when sheet iron spacers are used for magnesite brickwork, will form a bond between the bricks. Corrugated metal having the crests of the corrugations flattened is preferably used.
