[Class 51 (i.)] In a boiler furnace the supply of primary air or both primary and secondary air for combustion and the supply of air to the chimney to check the draught are controlled automatically in accordance with the temperature of the water in the boiler by control means arranged in a single casing 20 and consisting of a thermally sensitive member 1 comprising a hermetically sealed expansion vessel containing a liquid and surrounded by water circulating in a container 2 connected by pipes 3, 4 with the water space of the boiler. Expansion of liquid in the vessel 1 actuates a rod 5 and damper 6 pivoted to the top of the casing 20 to control the air supplied to the casing from the atmosphere through a port 12 and its passage through ports 7, 10 leading respectively to primary air supply port 9 and secondary air supply pipe 9<a>, and port 13 supplying air to the chimney. The rod 5 passes through a hole in the damper 6 which is held'between a spring 17 and adjustable sleeve 15 attached to the rod 5. In the modification shown in Fig. 2, the damper 6 is subjected to the action' of an additional thermal expansion device 18 located in the path of air coming from the atmosphere. The rod 5 of the expansion device 1 connected to the boiler is coupled to the expansion device 18 the rod 21 of which serves to actuate the damper 6.
