Abstract

- 465,437. Hinges. GREAVES, F. A., and THOMAS, A. J., (trading as GREAVES & THOMAS). May 28, 1936, No. 15067. [Class 65 (ii)] A hinge for the leg of a folding table or the like comprises a pair of U-shaped brackets 1, 12, fixed respectively to the table frame and the leg 9, a pin 7 fixed in the arms of bracket 1 and passing through the arms of bracket 12, which is slidable thereon, a spring 14 placed on the pin between adjacent arms of the two brackets, and a stud 15 on one bracket engaging an opening or hole in the adjacent arm of the other bracket, in the erected position of the leg, by relative axial movement of the brackets under the action of the spring. An additional recess may be provided in the bracket having the opening, to receive the stud 15 when the leg is folded, this recess being preferably so formed that the stud is disengaged by the opening movement of the leg and does not require to be positively released by sliding the leg along the hinge pin as in the case of release from the open position of the leg.
