Abstract
465,108. Valve circuits. FERRANTI, Ltd., and ATKINSON, S. Oct. 2, 1935, No. 27176. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] Attenuation of the higher audio- or videofrequencies and variation of phase angle is reduced by a correcting unit comprising an inductively wound resistance. In a series modulator, the photo-cell currents are applied to the grid of valve 2 whose output is coupled to a carrier frequency source 8 and applied to the grid of amplifying valve 4. The correcting unit is represented at 6, 7 and is applied across the choke 5, and anode-cathode space of the valve 4. If C is the stray capacity of the correcting unit, R its resistance, and L its inductance, L/CR<2>=0À333. As applied to a video-frequency amplifier, the unit 6, 7, Fig. 5 is placed in the output load circuit of the valve 15. L/CR<2>=5À76 in this case If the unit is used in the coupling between two valves of a video-frequency amplifier, L/CR<2>=0À414. The unit may be used to replace the resistance of a potentiometer volume control, Figs. 6, 7, 8, 9 (not shown), when L/CR<2>=0.1035. Specification 386,296 is referred to.
