463,675. Grinding end surfaces. JUNG, K., (trading as JUNG MASCHINENFABRIK, K.). Feb. 27, 1936, No. 5944. Convention date, March 2, 1935. [Class 60] End surfaces are ground in ring-shaped bodies of U- or T-cross-section, for example, in bearing races or rings, in an internal grinding machine, the work 5 being held in a rotating chuck 4 on a slide 2 movable on a bed by means of a hand wheel 6 and to an extent limited by adjustable stops 8.. 11. The end surfaces are ground by a grinding- disc 15 in the form of two cones, base to base, mounted on a spindle 14 driven by a motor 16 and mounted on a carriage 17 movable along a table 18, which is angularly adjustable about a pivot 20; for grinding surfaces at right-angles to the axis of the work the spindle 14 is set at an angle to the work axis equal to the base angle of the grinding-disc cones, and for surfaces at other angles, the base angles are greater or less than the angle between the spindle and the work axis. Stops are provided on the table 18 to locate the disc 15 in the correct positions, and a trueing device 23 comprising diamonds 24, 25 movable in the directions of the arrows shown in Fig. la is used for trueing the disc 15 after coarse grinding; the carriage 17 is moved in the direction d by a small amount e for trueing the disc, and for finish grinding, the stops on the table 18 are adjusted also by the amount e.
