344,624. Grinding. SKERRETT, H. N., 24, Temple Row, Birmingham.- (Timken Roller Bearing Co.; Denber Avenue, Canton, Ohio, U.S.A.) Feb. 7, 1930, No. 4129. [Class 60.] Trueing rotating tools.-A device for attachment to a grinding-machine for trueing the grinding- wheel in situ enables wheels having convex or concave surfaces of different diameters to be trued the trueing tool being rotatable about either of two centres of rotation. A base 1 bolted to the machine at 4 carries rotatably a guideway 7 having arcuate bounding edges with a point B as centre and pivoting about a conical head 11. A dovetail guideway 17, on which a standard 21 carrying the trueing diamond 24 is adapted to slide, is provided on a slide 15 supported on the base 1 and engaging the guideway 7, the standard 21 being thus rotatable about the axis A of pin 11 or about the centre B. The slide 15 may be clamped to the guide 7 or the guide 7 to the base 1 by means of conical members engaging a tapered hole or an annular groove respectively. A gauge block is employed to locate the diamond point 24 in line with index marks 36 or 37 on the standard 21 and by means of an adjusting screw 26 the point is adjusted at the correct distance from the centre of rotation A or B as shown on a scale S. The standard may be reversed end for end and numerical details of the correct position of the standard and the correct centre of rotation to be used for different curvatures are given in the Specification. A screw 29 engaging swivel blocks 30, 31 and held on a bracket 32 adjustably bolted to the base 1 traverses the diamond across the face to be trued.
