Abstract

462,842. Heat - storing apparatus. DETTMAR, G. Oct. 25, 1935, No. 29497. [Class 64 (ii)] Heat-storing apparatus applicable for the heating of rooms comprises storage bodies which may be solid or liquid, or may be fusible salts. Heat is supplied separately to each of a number of separated storage units, and is given up by the aggregate indirectly through an insulating covering or directly to a stream of air. When heat is stored at high temperature, each storage body,is separately heat-insulated. Combinations of storage bodies of different heat capacities and at different temperatures may be used. The storage bodies may have a large surface area to facilitate abstraction of heat. High temperature storage in fusible salt mixtures may be combined with low temperature storage in water. The low temperature storage bodies may receive heat from the high temperature storage bodies. Fig. 1 shows an example of a combination of separate heat storage bodies 1 in a casing 2. In Fig. 7, water in vessels 1 is heated by electrodes 3, the vessels being surrounded by a heat-insulating casing 2 having a door 5. The casing is open at the bottom and a tray 6 is provided to receive water if leakage occurs. The heating units of the separate storage bodies may be connected together in series or parallel, and some or all of the units may be used as required.
