Abstract

462,834. Vices. STEEL NUT & J. HAMPTON, Ltd., and NASH,.S. T. Sept. 28, 1935, No. 26838. [Class 61 (ii)] A quick adjustment releasable screw vice has the screw spindle 10a mounted in two eccentrics 8 connected by a flat bar 9 and is disengaged from the half nut 11 by a backward rotation of the vice screw, a spring pin 16 on the screw boss 14 engaging a ratchet tooth 8a formed in the face of the front eccentric causing rotation of the two eccentrics and lifting of the screw spindle ; forward rotation of the screw spindle carries the eccentrics round with it until the screw engages the half nut. The supporting plate 13 of the half nut 11 has a slot 13a engaging a stem 11a on the half nut permitting lateral movement of the latter during disengagement and re-engagement of the screw.
