Abstract
462,538. Trawling- gear. SHUTTLEWORTH, W. E. Sept. 10, 1935, No. 25124. [Class 48] A trawl - net having a headline in advance of the footrope has a towing warp passing through the roof of the net to a trolley at the base adjacent to the footrope, and the other boards or spreaders are displaceable relatively to the towing warp and are disposed out of the direct connection between the warp and the net. The main warp 24 is connected to a trolly at the mouth 15 of the net by cables 23, the trolly comprising two rigidly connected transverse bars 21 carrying rollers 22. The spreaders 18 are connected to separate warps 29 led over booms 13 on the ship and maintain the opening between side curtains 19 which are connected by netting 20 secured to the headline 17. The main warp passes through a ring 25 on the headline or it passes through the net behind the headline and the latter is maintained at any desired height by a separate warp connected to the main warp some distance in front of the net. The spreaders 18 may be connected to branch warps connected to a point on the main warp. The spreaders are connected to the warps by crows' feet and are weighted and provided with rollers at their lower edges.
