Nets; trawling-gear.-A trailing-net for ground or surface fishing has two waists 1, 2, the vertical central planes of which are substantially parallel to the direction of trailing and pass through the points of connection to the sheering-boards 3, 4 or between the two boards near those points. Each waist is connected by separate lines 5, 6 to the upper edge and 7, 8 to the lower edge of the sheering board in front of it. The upper parts are connected by a line 13, 14, 15 from which cables 16, 17 extend to the sheering boards and other cables to floats 24, 25 attached to a headline 23 of such length that the portions between the floats and the sheering boards are substantially vertical, thus forming a rectangular mouth to the net. The floats 24, 25 are connected by cables 26 to the main trailing cables 27. For surface fishing the sheering boards are provided with floating bodies or attached to floats and the bodies 24, 25 become sinkers.
