Trawling-gear; nets; net floats and buoys.- A trawl net is adapted for use in connexion with a steering-device as described in Specification 143,226. The lower edge of the mouth of the net is connected by rings A to the boom and fastened at the ends to eye-bolts so that either end can be easily released and the net run along the rail. Below the upper edge, which extends forwards, is provided a. boarding B parallel to the boom and having its front secured to a leech-rope c and its rear edge fastened to the meshes of the net. Two ropes D' and D<2> connect the front and rear of the board respectively to the two points of connexion of the upper and lower steering-device ropes, the distance between the former being equal to, or longer than, the length of the short chain connecting the latter. The lengths of the ropes D<1> and D<2> are such that, when the two connecting-points are directly above each other, the front edge of the board is slightly raised. Flat floats E may be fixed on the edge of the net between the board and eye-bolts. When drawn by two trawl ropes, the boarding is steered simultaneously and similarly to the boom so that the depth of the net below the surface can be regulated. For fishing at a definite depth, ropes of the required length fastened to the boom ends may be run up to buoys.
