Class 48 A trawl net has a gap cut away at the top of the mouth and a lifting board AA <1>B <1>B is pivoted to the edge of the gap opposite the headrope and is connected by pennants AOB, A 10 <1>B to the headrope or to a frame COO <1>C of trapezium shape pivoted along its longer parallel side to the headrope. The points 0,0 of attachment to the frame lie in a plane perpendicular to the board and intersecting the board at one third of its length from the leading edge. The line D<1>D 1 1 of attachment of the board to the net is at about one third of its length from the rear edge. Two spherical floats F <1>, F <1> <1>, are fixed in the two forward corners of the board. The board is made of aluminium and has a bead at the edges. The net mouth may have a plurality of lifting boards which may be joined to one another. The floats may be detachably connected to the boards.
