Abstract

462,432. Hose - suspender grips. BLUMENTHAL, L., (trading as BLUMENTHAL LIPOT ES TARSA), and MARKUS, S. June 8, 1936, No. 16030. [Class 44] In a hose &c. suspender having gripping arms applying pressure normal to the direction of tension in the hose &c. the gripping portions are in the form of rubber &c. pockets pushed into place on the arms and secured by adhesive, vulcanization &c. As shown, the grip comprises a back plate 10 having a wire arm 11 pivoted thereon in lug 14. Rubber pockets 12 are secured on the free ends of the arms, which are caused to grip or are released by operation of a sliding sleeve or like member 13. Modifications are described in which both arms are of sheet metal either pivoted together, or formed from a single blank by bending, the resilience at the bend allowing the opening and closing movements. The ends of the arms may have undulations to engage corresponding indulations within the pockets, and the gripping surfaces of the pockets may be smooth or finely ribbed.
