Abstract

417,656. Bending pipes. LORENZ, O., (trading as ASMUS & LORENZ), 20, Neanderstrasse, and ENGEL, W., 41, Sebastianstrasse, both in Berlin. April 3, 1933, No. 9954. Convention date, April 5, 1932. [Class 83 (iv).] In a sweep-arm bender the pipe f is secured by a clip d and a grooved member n on the arm m bends the pipe about a former b of vulcanized fibre or other resilient material. To prevent flattening of the pipe during bending the opening of the groove of the former at the part A B is constricted so that the pipe is flattened slightly in the plane of the former before it is bent. The diameter of the groove may be smaller than the diameter of the pipe and the ends of the groove may be flared.
