[Class 132 (ii)] The frame member of a tennis or other games racket, which is bent to form the head, comprises laminations extending parallel and others extending perpendicular to the plane of the racket. For example, the racket frame may comprise laminations a, b, .... i, glued or otherwise secured together and extending to the lower end of the handle, the laminations being of the same or different (hard and soft), kinds of wood, for example, beech and ash. The usual wedge may also be laminated correspondingly, and the throat is reinforced by facing strips k, a tapering strip m applied as a unit covering the three laminations g, h, i, or in sections corresponding to these laminations, and wrappings of tape and, or, cord at each side of the wedge. The laminations a .... i may vary in size, so that they interlock, Fig. 6, and, some of the laminations, for example, the series d, e, f and b, e, h may be replaced by a single lamination of wood, hide etc. for the whole or a portion of the length thereof. The handle is completed by filling strips n and external layers l preferably of lime, and may contain, longitudinally, a layer of elastic material such as rubber, cane &c. which may replace the laminations b, e, h, or the strips n, for example. A strip of wood, hide &c. may be applied partly or all the way around the exterior edge of the racket frame, before or after stringing. The stringing holes preferably extend from the outer laminations a, c, to the inner face of the lamination h, the holes in the lamination h extending from a being disposed nearer the lamination i and those extending from lamination e being disposed nearer the lamination g, to reduce the stress on the glued joints.
