Abstract

298,874. Davis, W. J. April 23, 1928. Rackets. - To strength the frame of a tennis or like racket and prevent twisting or warping thereof, strips of wood are secured to the outer faces of the frame, the grain of the strips running at, or substantially at, right-angles to the direction of the grain of the frame. The strips b may be connected at the head of the frame by a scarf joint, or, as shown in Fig. 1, may have a gap. The grain of the strips is directed towards the centre of the frame as suggested by the arrow x<1>, the grain of the frame strip a running longitudinally as usual.
