Abstract
462,225. Automatic control systems. HALL & KAY, Ltd., KAY, P., and HALL, S. June 1, 1935, No. 15965. [Class 38 (iv)] Temperature.-The temperature of a liquid spray 9 for humidifying air and other gases is controlled by a thermostat 17 placed in the liquid which drips from or is immediately collected from baffles 10 eliminating liquid from the gas after passage through the spray. A baffle 13 separates water below the eliminators 10 from that in a main water-collecting trough 12. Liquid is recirculated to the spray by a pump 11 from the trough 12, and the thermostat, which is placed in or above the liquid below the eliminators, controls the supply of steam to a heater 20 in the water circulating system through an electric relay 18 controlling a motorized steam inlet valve 19. The starter 27 of a motor may be controlled by the electric relay to circulate water by a pump 21 from the trough through a chamber 24 containing a cooling coil 26. The gas is passed horizontally by a fan through the apparatus and may be heated or cooled at the inlet 7, under the control of a thermostat in the gas outlet 8.
