Abstract
462,221. Electric heating resistances. COLLINS, G. H., and COLLINS, H. F. Aug. 30, 1935, No. 34913/36. Divided out of 462,173. [Class 39 (iii)] In an element comprising a resistance wound on a former and arranged in a sheath 14 of channel form in cross-section, means are provided positively to prevent the former from being withdrawn through the open side of the channel when tension is applied to the ends of the resistance winding. The sheath may be formed from a single length of metal bent to U- or V-outline. The retaining means in Fig. 2 comprises wire loops 22 passing through the sheath and former. Alternatively, in Fig. 4, tongues 28 bent from one side of the sheath pass through apertures in the opposite side of the sheath, and in Fig. 5, the edges 20 of the sheath are bent inwards. Specification 462,173 is referred to.
