Abstract
461,722. Casting reinforced-concrete masts. GHIRA, A., and GHIRA, G., (trading as GHIRA, SOC. DI COSTRUZIONI, INGG. A. & G.). March 23, 1936, No. 8607. Convention date, March 23, 1935. [Classes 20 (i), 20 (ii), and 20 (iv)] A method of making reinforced-concrete lattice-work' masts consists in using divided mould boxes for the uprights A and diagonals C, Fig. 1, parts of these mould boxes being used as scaffolding for carrying out the work and the other parts being attached thereto prior to the casting operation. Horizontal stays, when such are provided, are similarly constructed. In the construction shown, the uprights of the scaffolding are of angle section and consist of a number of sections joined end to end by hingelike joints 1, Fig. 3. The diagonals consist of pairs of plates 10 which are supported by channel-members a connected to the uprights. Prior to the casting operation, angle-plates 6 are connected to the uprights to form mould boxes, the connection being effected by pins 7 which pass through holes 8 and by means of wires threaded through holes 9<1> in their abutting flanges. The mould boxes for the diagonals are completed by upper and lower plates which are connected by wires to the plates 10. The horizontal scaffold members b may be of the same construction as the diagonals or, as shown, these members serve only to support a staging 3. The various mould-box elements are preferably formed in sections having bevelled ends. To facilitate the removal of the lowermost mould box of each upright, it is made in two sections, the lower one of which can be slidden upwards. The reinforcement for the mast consists of vertical bars 4, Fig. 5, and encircling bars 20, the bars being held in position by metal strips 19 having pointed ends. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a method of constructing a simple mast comprising a single upright, the scaffolding comprising three uprights, one only of which forms a part of the mould box for the mast. A bracket mould 16, Fig. 10 (Cancelled), and a device 17, Fig. 11 (Cancelled), for supporting a climbing bar during the casting operation are also described. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
