Abstract

410,599. Constructing buildings; slabs. MOPIN, E. G. P., 90, Avenue Niel, Paris. April 7, 1933, No. 10477. Convention date, March 7. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i).] A process for the construction of buildings consists in first erecting a light metallic framework corresponding to the walls and floors of the building and comprising upright and horizontal members which would be insufficient in themselves to support the dead weight of the finished structure thereafter, whilst employing the framework as a scaffolding, securing standardized concrete elements to the framework so as to constitute the walls, partitions and floors, and finally pouring concrete into certain of the spaces between the concrete elements in order to enclose the metallic framework and to effect the union of the elements. The vertical and horizontal members 1, 1, 1 of the framework are braced together by wire or other members 2. The concrete elements 4 may be of T-shape in cross-section and are placed side by side against the framework, and an inner wall covering 11 is secured to the flanges 8 of these elements. At the upper end of each element 4 is a horizontal extension 7 with two projections 6 adapted to engage horizontal members 1 of the framework. The floor elements 3, Fig. 2, are provided on the lower face with extensions 3 adapted to rest upon inclined slabs 10 carried by the horizontal members 1, 1, and concrete 15 is cast between the inclined slabs 10 and above the horizontal members 1. Reinforcing members project from the ends of the elements 3 and are connected to the horizontal members 1. To form wall plates and girders, concrete 12 is cast on to the extensions 7 of the elements 4 and around the horizontal members 1 as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. A further series of elements 4 is mounted above the elements 4, with the interposition of a concrete stringer 13. The elements 4 are connected to the framework by wires threaded through holes in cross-pieces 9, Fig. 3, moulded integrally with the elements, and an additional connection may be provided by means of reinforcing members projecting from the elements. Additional reinforcing elements may be arranged in the concrete 12, 14, 15. The whole floor or only that part adjacent the walls is adapted to be erected prior to the formation of the walls so as to serve as a scaffolding.
