Abstract
461,238. Portable buildings; glasshouses. LAMB, M. D. T. June 12, 1935, No. 16973. [Class 20 (i)] Relates to collapsable buildings of the kind comprising a plurality of rows of uprights 2, Figs. 2 and 5, opposite pairs of which are spanned by a section of a ridge roof. According to the invention, the roof comprises a number of lights or panels 6 carrying lugs or projections 12 which interlock with abutments supported by the uprights, the lights or panels resting against a central ridge-pole 11, Fig. 7, to which they are rigidly secured by locking means. In the construction shown, the lugs 12 pass into openings 5b of brackets 5 which are bolted to the uprights and interconnected as shown by tie-bars 10. Further lugs pass under lipped over portions of brackets which are secured to the gutter 9, the latter being arranged between the brackets 5 and further brackets 4. The upper ends of the lights are secured to the ridge-pole by brackets 13 having upturned ends 13a, each bracket being provided with a securing bolt 15 which screws into a plate 14 secured to the ridge-pole. In addition to the rigid lights, the roof may comprise a number of lights centrally pivoting about horizontal axes. The end lights of the building are stationary and those of the side walls are pivoted to the uprights, as shown in Fig. 2. The uprights carry spikes 3 which pass through reinforcedconcrete battens 1, which are laid on the ground.
