490,297. Floors. WYLIE, A. R. Feb. 15, 1937, No. 4530. Convention date, Oct. 19, 1936. [Classes 20 (ii) and 20 (iv)] A steel floor frame comprises a series of columns 15 arranged in longitudinal and transverse rows, girders 10... 13 so arranged longitudinally and transversely of the floor that the ends of four abutting girders constitute a group in the form of a parallelogram 14 in which a column is located, means for attaching the four abutting girders together whereby each girder is connected to other girders at its ends and at two intermediate points, and means for supporting each group of girders on the enclosed column. The girders are connected together by brackets 20, and each column is attached to the enclosing girders by brackets 16, 17, 17a which preferably extend diagonally of the parallelogram. The bracket 16 is continuous across the parallelogram 14, and the brackets 17, 17a are secured to the bracket 16 by angles 21 and top and bottom splice plates. The column is composed of four vertical angles 24 which lie in the angles formed by the brackets 16, 17, 17a and are secured together by channels 25 and angles 26, the latter being riveted to the brackets. The angles 24 are also connected by lacing bars or plates. Each bracket 16, 17, 17a may be secured to the girders by a bent plate 18a or by suitably bending an extension of the web of the bracket. The spaces between the main girders are divided into panels A, B ... by cross-beams 18 19. The girders may carry a decking of hollow tiles or concrete, steel plates, or wood pieces laid at an angle of 45 degrees across the building and spiked to each other.
