Abstract
460,951. Sealing pliers. GRAVES, W. L. (Signode Steel Strapping Co.) July 14, 1936, No. 19516. [Class 61 (ii)] Strap joint-forming tongs comprising handle members 10, 11 pivoted together on a pin 12 and pivoted by means of pins 17, 18 to jaws 19, 20 pivoting on a bolt 21 have the handle members thickened at 40, 41 and slotted to provide an interleaved joint 44 ... 47 around the pivot 12 and at the pivots 17, 18 of the jaws, which are also of slotted formation at the upper ends 48, 49 and around the pivot bolt 21. Each jaw is equipped with two deforming pins 52 to form a double tandem joint and the jaw construction includes an anvil plate 22 with perforated lugs 23, 24 engaged by the bolt 21 and side plates 30, 31 also perforated to engage the bolt 21 and slotted at 34 to engage the ends of the pin 12 and recessed and slotted at 32, 35 to accommodate the ends of the anvil.
