Abstract

460,714. Cleats for ropes. LOFQWIST, O. J. Aug. 2, 1935, No. 21948. Addition to 457,330. [Class 109] The cleat claimed in the parent Specification is provided with means for locating and retaining the rope within the slots of the plate or frame. In one form, the means comprise ribs 7 upstanding from the edges of the slots 5 and terminating short of the inner ends of the slots. The ribs 7 may be on the one face of the plate 4 or on opposite sides and may be of arcuate form. Alternatively, a pivoted retaining device 9 having arms 11, 12 closing the slots 5 may be mounted upon the plate 4. A lip 13 on the arm 12 tends to hold the member 9 in its roperetaining position. In a modification, Fig. 10, a U-shaped member 15 is disposed diagonally across the ends of the slots 5, and so as to be raised against the pressure of a spring 20 to allow the rope to be passed beneath it. In another form, a U-shaped member is pivoted at one end so as to be movable from rope retaining to open position.
