459,975. Proofing wood against fire and fungi. CHEMISCHE FABRIK GRUNAU LANDSHOFF & MEYER AKT.-GES., Gr³nau, Berlin. Dec. 23, 1935, No. 35613. Convention date, March 29. [Class 140] Sulphates and hydrochlorides of aniline or dimethylaniline are added to colourless aqueous solutions of inorganic salts for wood impregnation in order that the extent of impregnation may be ascertained by the colouring of the wood by interaction with the aniline or dimethylaniline salt. The additions may be made to fireproofing or preservative solutions of silicates, fluorides, fluosilicates, phosphates, borates, chlorides, carbonates, or ammonium salts. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also the addition of watersoluble colourless amino derivatives of benzene hydrocarbons which produce a colour on reaction with wood, to the inorganic salt solutions. Aniline, dimethyl aniline, paraphenylenediamine, dimethyl - paraphenylenediamine, anthranilic acid, and aminophenol sulphonic acid are specified. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
