Abstract
459,879. Disinfecting closets &c. RITTERSHAUS, F. P., 45, Marville Road, Fulham, London. July 17, 1935. No. 20348. [Class 26] A disinfecting-device for closets &c. comprises supply and mixing chambers 1, 2 communicating through a non-return valve 21, the arrangement being such that a part of the flush-water is diverted into the chamber 2 from the flush-pipe, causing an air-cushion which lifts the valve off its seat for the entry of disinfectant, which is subsequently withdrawn together with the water on cessation of the flush. The chambers are constituted by glass &c. cylinders 6, 8 separated by a partition 7 and housed within a shell 3 having sight-openings 15 and a cap 5 ; the partition accommodates a glass cylinder 19, the lower end of which is tapered to form a seating 20 for the valve 21 which is formed with an extension 23. Means, such as a screwed and flanged rod 40, for limiting the extent of opening of the valve, an air-escape valve which may comprise a needle valve 28 working within a chamber having apertures 35 closable by a cap 36, an access-opening 43 and a scoop 27 are also provided.
