[Classes 120 (ii) and 120 (iii)] The invention is described with reference to the machine shown in Specification 459,357 but the claims are directed to a machine for winding yarns and threads comprising a plurality of winding units, each having a holder for an unwinding yarn mass, a magazine having a series of holders for supply masses, means for causing relative travel between the magazine and the winding units, means for causing the series of supply holders of the magazine to move in a closed path in timed relation to the travel between the magazine and the units, means whereby the movement of the supply holders of the magazine discharges fresh yarn supply masses successively to the holders of the units, means for holding the ends of the strands of the supply masses in the magazine and a knotter to which the movement of the holders of the magazine successively delivers the strands of the fresh supply masses ; the supply holders of the magazine may move in a circular path, a suction conduit may hold the ends of the strands of the supply masses and the knotter may be arranged to cut off the held ends of such strands. The machine mav have the travelling and winding mechanism described in British Specification 268,161, [Class 120 (ii)], or that described in U.S.A. Reissue Specification 18,310 ; the yarn tensioner may be that described in U.S.A. Specification 1,965,363, the slub catcher that described in U.S.A. Specification 1,905,259 and the knotter that described in U.S.A. Specification 755,110. British Specifications 459,413 and 459,414 also are referred to.
