760,616. Creels. DIETZ, W. March 23, 1954 [March 23, 1953], No. 8428/54. Classes 120 (2) and 142 (2). In a method of changing bobbins in creels having adjacently disposed bobbin skewers, the bobbins, before they are fully unwound, are transferred from their main position to a secondary position situated in the space 6 between four main positions 1, 2,À3 and 4 and a fresh bobbin is fitted in the main position thus made available the leading end of the thread of the latter bobbin being knotted to the thread reserve of the bobbin continuing to unwind in the secondary position. In creels for carrying the method into effect the holders 17 of the bobbin skewers may have two fitting parts 18 and 19 by which they are mounted at will on bars 16 of the creels, one part being angled in two planes with respect to the other part so that when the bobbin is in the main and the secondary position its axis points towards the usual thread guide eye. In other embodiments the holders are mounted in arcuate guides so that they can be slid from the main position to the secondary position or there may be a fixed bobbin skewer situated in each main and secondary position. An arrangement in which the bobbin supports are arranged on a plurality of separate displaceable frames is also described.
