Abstract

752,919. Bobbins. MUSCHAMP, H. L. Feb. 15, 1955 [March 12, 1954], No. 7200/54. Drawings to Specification. Class 120 (3). A pirn comprises a groove over which thread must pass on the commencement of winding; the groove is adapted to register with a cutting knife of a winder when the pirn is supported in the headstock and tailstock thereof and may be so dimensioned that it includes a tolerance to allow for any eccentricity of the pirn so that the knife will enter the groove and be operable to cut the thread without couching the pirn. The groove may be arcuate in cross-section, similar to and adjacent the grooves adapted to receive pirn-holding rings.
