459,256. Walls; window frames; bricks &c. HONEGGER, H., 7, Schulstrasse, Kilchberg, Zurich, Switzerland. Dec. 4, 1935, No. 33636. Convention date, Dec. 5, 1934. [Classes 20 (iii), 20 (iv), and 87 (i)] A wall is built of blocks which have throughpassages 4 in a vertical direction and grooves 5 along the horizontal edges, the blocks interengaging along their vertical edges by tongue-andgroove connections 2, 3. The blocks are formed of compressed granulated cork with a binder. The blocks are positioned with their passages 4 in alignment, and concrete is then run into the passages 4 and into the horizontal passages formed by opposite grooves 5, to constitute a reinforcing grid structure having vertical bars 4<1> and horizontal bars 5<1>. Iron bars 6 and 9 may be placed in the passages 4 and 5 to form a reinforcement for the concrete grid. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also the following matter. A strip of soft material provided with holes may be applied to the top course of blocks so that the concrete of the wall and the concrete of the ceiling are connected only at predetermined points. Windows may be provided in the wall by fitting a block frame 20, Fig. 2 (Cancelled), of concrete at one side of the wall, so as to overlap a part of the grooves 5. A wooden frame 12 is applied to the frame 20 to form a mould by means of which concrete may be charged into the grooves 5 and vertical holes of the grid structure. The frame 20 has grooves 21 to key with the concrete of the grid. The frame 12 is permanent, and the window frame 17 is subsequently secured thereto. The frame structure may be of wood covering the whole thickness of the wall and having angle irons to key with the concrete which is run into the grooves 5. A waterproof skin may be glued to the frame to prevent damp passing from the concrete into the wood. The blocks may be in sections and may be of wood fibres, peat &c. bound with cement, or of highly porous cement. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
