[Class 120 (iii)] Tubes or spools having a tubular barrel with a frusto-conical base comprise a barrel of stiffened paper and a base of wood, the base being formed with a recess into which the reduced end of the barrel is expanded. The bottom of the barrel is expanded against a face 4, Fig. 1, of the recess, the shoulder 3<a> of the reduced portion engaging the upper end of the base, or a metal ring 8, Fig. 2, inserted in the barrel is expanded into a recess 9.
