Abstract

416,381. Bobbins &c. LOWRY, A. S., c/o Textile Paper Tube Co., Ltd., Oakwood Mills, Romiley, Cheshire. March 9, 1933, No. 7129. [Class 120 (iii).] Paper tubes 3 have at least one end coated for the requisite distance with smooth vulcanized rubber 4 to prevent the yarn catching during unwinding. The rubber is preferably applied by dipping into a bath of rubber latex having a high percentage of vulcanizing accelerators and sulphur, with wax if desired, or the latex may be sprayed on. The rubber may cover the outside, edges, and inside of the tube, or a metal plug may be inserted in the tube before dipping so that only the outside is coated.
