458,775. Bed - pans. ROCK, E. M., 4, Lansdowne Road, Wimbledon, London. June 25, 1935, No. 18179. [Class 26] A bed-pan struc. ture comprises a cushion 16 of substantially horse-shoe shape arranged above an integral or separate bed-par holder having a channel into and out of which a bed-pan 13 can be slid. The holder has a base-plate 5 with an extension 6, side-walls 7, 10, and a horse-shoe shaped upper plate 9 to support the cushion, the inner edges of the plate overhanging the central opening to afford the guide for the pan, and the outer edges being upturned to locate the cushion. The latter is of spongy rubber and cellular construction, is recessed at 18, to accommodate the coccyx of the user and may be bevelled towards its edges ; further its inner walls may be smoothfaced to facilitate cleaning. The holder may be of vulcanized rubber, of wood or a pressing or a casting welded to the plate 9 which may be rubber-covered and may be vulcanized to the cushion. The bed-pan may be provided with a rubber funnel-shaped attachment for male use.
