[Class 81 (ii)] In breathing - apparatus comprising a rubber or rubberized fabric bag divided by a central partition into inhaling and exhaling compartments connected with the facepiece, the partition being spaced at its lower end from the bottom of the bag which contains carbon - dioxide absorbent material, a baffle or baffles are provided to prevent such movement of the absorbent, material on tilting the bag, as would uncover the lower end of the partition and permit free communication between the compartments. As shown, the partition 5 is parallel with the side walls of the bag and is joined at its side edges the one to one side wall and the other to the opposite wall; the partition may be provided with ribs 11. Baffles are formed by constrictions 9 in the end walls of the bag, or by horizontal perforated partitions between the central partition and the side walls. In other constructions a vertical central partition at right angles to and joining the side walls is provided and the baffles comprise constrictions 9, infolded bellows-like pockets extending wholly or partly down the end walls, a horizontal perforated partition extending entirely across the bag, or such a partition combined with bellows-like end walls. The bag is closed by clamping plates 14, having bolts and wing nuts 15, situated at the top, or where a horizontal partition is provided, at the bottom of the. bag.
