Abstract
458,368. Cylinders. HEWITT, H. S., 31, Regent Road, Surbiton, Surrey. June 15, 1935, No. 17307. [Class 7 (ii)] A cylinder has two combustion chambers 15, 16, one of which contains an inlet valve 22 and the igniter 26, the flame of combustion thus be ing caused to travel through the cylinder to the second combustion chamber which may house an additional inlet valve 21 ; the exhaust valve 27 seats in the flat cylinder head outside the combustion chambers. The delay of ignition in the chamber 15 may be adjusted by a passage 25 of the requisite size. The combustion chambers are formed by a surface of revolution about the axes of the valves 21, 22, and communicate with the cylinder by restricted passages 17, 18. The Provisional Specification describes the omission of the combustion chamber 15.
