Abstract
457,696. Pictures; picture books. TRANSART AKTIEBOLAG, 20, Võstra Hamngatan, Gothenburg, Sweden. March 17, 1936, Nos. 7976 and 7977. Convention dates, Aug. 27, 1935 and Oct. 24, 1935. [Classes 11 and 16] In the representation of objects, particularly those lying behind one another in space or time, by the use of superposed transparent sheets, each of the sheets carries an opaque picture of part of the total representation, so that an underneath picture is masked to a greater or less extent by the picture above it. The representation on each sheet is executed by a printing or other process in opaque colours, or preferably over an opaque background of a neutral tint or of a tint used in the picture. A representation of the rear side of the object can then be printed on the under side of the sheet, so that, when the sheets are mounted together, for instance in book or leporello form, and the observer turns over the successive sheets f, g, h, Figs. 7, 8, carrying the representations a, b, c of portions of a landscape he can take a backward glance at the part already traversed by looking at the back of sheets already turned. The opaque background coating 7, Fig. 11, may be applied on one or both sides of the sheet 1 under the colour imprints 4, 5, 6, or one colour imprint may be made on one side, to be viewed through the sheet, and then the coating 7 and second colour imprint may be overprinted.
