389,808. Composite photographs and pictures. DUMAY, J. M. L. DE PERRINELLE-, 86, Rue des Martyrs, Paris. June 19, 1931, No. 17855. Convention date, June 23, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Classes 97 (i) and 98 (ii).] Photographs, pictures and drawings, which may be examined equally well either directly or by transmitted light, are produced by superimposing in register two or more photographs &c. exhibiting the same or nearly the same subject, all of the components being made on paper, or one or more of them being so made, and the remainder being made on glass, film or other transparent or translucent support. The components may be uncoloured, or one or more of them may be coloured either directly on the front or back, or upon a transparent or translucent sheet of paper superimposed on the component. Any component may exhibit " the whole or only part of the colours." Each support may carry a component on one side, or two components on opposite sides. Copies may be made by photographing the composite picture illuminated by transmitted light, and exhibit enhanced contrasts. If the components differ in slight details, such as the position of the arms or mouth of a person, an animated effect is observed when the picture is examined alternately by transmitted light and directly, and " this affords a method for obtaining animated pictures," e.g. for advertising.
