Abstract

457,321. Type-bar-making machines. INTERTYPE, Ltd., 215, Farnham Road, Slough, Buckinghamshire. July 13, 1936, No. 19389. Convention date, Dec. 24, 1935. Addition to 445,909. [Class 100 (iii)] Clamping matrices ;moulds.-The typebar-making machine described in the parent Specification for casting slugs having at one or both ends parts of decreased height is modified by making the continuous ribs 12, 13 on the vice-jaws 6, 7 so that they taper towards their outer edges to a width equal to the vertical width of the mould cavity 5, which has bevelled edges 21, 22 corresponding to the taper so that the ribs seal the front of the mould cavity beyond the line of matrices M. Close contact between the adjacent faces of the mould 3, 4 and the jaws 6, 7 is thus rendered unnecessary and a clearance space is therefore provided. The tapered form of the ribs and the cavityedges renders the ribs selfaligning. Specifications 14582/90, [Class 100], 402,809, 402,841, and 406,962 are referred to.
