Abstract

457,029. Delivering liquids by gas pressure. HIGGINS, H. R., 153, Abbey Road, Kilburn, London. Feb. 19, 1935, No. 33213/34. [Class 102 (ii)] Apparatus for discharging liquids, comprises a container 1 having a filling tube 28, arranged to trap air and so determine the maximum level of the liquid, a pump 32 for creating air pressure in the container and a discharge head 5, secured by means of a stem 4 to the neck washer 3 of the container, and carrying a discharge tube 26. The head 5 contains a discharge valve 13, which can be opened by means of a lever 21, pivoted on a handle 11 secured to the head 5, and adapted to engage a nut 20 on the stem 14 of the valve 13. The valve 13 carries a needle 24 for clearing the orifice of a removable nozzle 25. A spare nozzle 25a is carried in the handle 11. The rod 38 of the air pump is loosely connected to the piston 37, which is adapted to yield, and so prevent pumping excess pressure into the container. The air pump may discharge into a perforated distributor 41 at the bottom of the container, in order to stir the liquid. The discharge pipe 26 is provided with a strainer 26a.
