456,758. Protective cut-out arrangements. ALTHAM, T. F., 43, Garrick Close, and HACKBRIDGE ELECTRIC CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd., Hersham, both in Waltonon-Thames. May 14, 1935, No. 14157. [Class 38 (v)] An oil - immersed transformer is provided with a protective device comprising a frangible sealing member which on being ruptured by pressure developed within the oil tank under fault conditions causes or permits completion of a circuit arranged to actuate directly or through a relay an indicating device, alarm, or switch-tripping mechanism. The sealing member 1 which may be of glass normally maintains a spring-urged contact piece 8 out of engagement with fixed contacts 9 at which the actuating circuit is completed on rupture of the member 1. The contacts are located in the tank vent pipe between the member 1 and a second frangible member adapted to prevent access of moisture to the vent.
